Examples of our work
We have worked with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to advise on their developing community engagement toolkit and database. This work grew from our role in facilitating the development of a multi-agency/cross-sectoral ‘ Community Engagement Working Group’ with a remit to develop a Community Engagement Strategy for the Local Strategic Partnership.
To complement this work in Dudley Borough, we are currently facilitating a series of cross-sectoral workshops, to identify learning and support needs for engagement workers and a subsequent training and support programme for community engagement
As associates of the Community Development Foundation, we have worked with Harrow Council to identify the specific roles of engagement officers within their community engagement strategy. In this associate role we have also developed guidelines for community engagement for a Criminal Justice Agency, and evaluated a series of community engagement pilot projects relating to anti-social behaviour, hate crime, and ‘vulnerable victims’ programmes.
We have developed and delivered training programmes for participants to share their experiences of community engagement, to learn about the context of community engagement and to explore some of the issues, challenges and solutions for engaging communities. These courses have been commissioned by voluntary sector organisations, e.g. The Wildlife Trust, and public sector organisations, e.g. Canterbury City Council, and have been delivered to cross-sectoral audiences through our own public training programme.
